The Tasks
EVRF soldiers in the AFM are expected to perform the following duties:- civil emergency duties, key point security duties, tactical patrolling and surveillance and manning of the light anti-aircraft gun.

Organisation
The Reservists are administered and trained by 'C' Company, 1st Regiment at Lyster Barracks, Hal-Far. They are divided into infantry platoons, led by regular Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs).

Training
During their first year, the EVRF soldiers are introduced to the basic soldiering skills: foot drill, combat fitness, weapon training, map reading and first aid. Due to their high level of motivation, the Reservists master the basic soldiering skills very quickly and, above all, successfully.

Their training programme is mainly geared towards the acquisition of basic battle skills. Starting from the individual level and progressing to higher levels, the Volunteers are trained in tough environments under realistic conditions. When a year's training is complete the Reservists move onto further specialist training, such as in infantry and anti-aircraft artillery. Planned training includes civil protection duties.
