The principal role of 2nd Regiment, AFM is to contribute
to the maintenance of Malta's territorial, maritime and air-space integrity
by deploying well-trained and motivated soldiers to maintain surveillance
of Maltese waters against illegal drugs, contraband and illegal immigrants,
prevent illegal fishing and other law breaking at sea, provide search
and rescue services and the air defence of the airfield.
